Membership

We invite you to join Administrative and Public Law Section (APLS)!  APLS is a thriving section with over 1200 members who practice law at or before governmental entities.  APLS was formed to “enhance the role and skills of members of the State Bar who are engaged in government service or who are engaged in the practice of law before the various governmental agencies, through study, continuing legal education projects and seminars, the dissemination of materials on matters of interest and concern of the membership, and the exchange of ideas among the membership of the Section.”

APLS Continues Its Original Purposes

Annual Advanced Administrative Law Seminar

Co-sponsored with UTCLE, APLS has planned and sponsored advanced Administrative Law seminars since 1988.

Mack Kidd Administrative Law Moot Court Competition

APLS has held this even for Texas law schools for over twenty-five years, which also provides members unique volunteer opportunities.

Reimbursement Scholarship for Board Certification

Qualifying section members can apply and be reimbursed for the cost of taking and passing the Texas Board of Legal Specialization exam to become board-certified in Administrative Law.

Pro Bono Award and CLE Scholarships

APLS recognizes the member who volunteers the greatest amount of time with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS) and provides an additional CLE scholarship at random to an additional member who has volunteered time through VLS.

Student Membership and Internships

Student memberships are free and student members are invited to the Section’s summer student luncheon along with state agency clerks and interns.
